Inspection Supervisor

Nordex is an engineering-driven company, with major operations regarding gear manufacturing, CNC machining, and assemblies, for the medical device, robotics, automation, aerospace, and defense industries. We are looking for an experienced, attentive, and self-motivated Inspection Supervisor to join the field.

The Inspection Supervisor will primarily be responsible for running Nordex’s Inspection Department and supervising other Inspectors. This will include utilizing precision measuring equipment, including a Coordinate Measurement Machine (“CMM”) to verify dimensional and functional conformance of machined components and assemblies to drawing and purchase order requirements. This Inspection Supervisor will also take a hands-on roll in quality control for the organization. This will include working with the Qulity Manager in participating and preparing for quality audits, implementing quality improvement plans, and undertaking corrective and preventative actions.

Responsibilities:

    • Supervise a department of 3-4 inspectors as they perform dimensional inspections.
    • Assist Quality Manager in Quality Control responsibilities, including preparing for quality audits, implementing quality improvement plans, and undertaking corrective and preventative actions.
    • Utilize precision measuring equipment, including programming and running a CMM, to verify dimensional and functional conformance of machined components and assemblies to drawing and purchase order requirements.
    • Record inspection measurement results in accordance with documented procedures.
    • Prepare inspection plans and first article inspection reports.
    • Prepare discrepancy and corrective action reports as required.

Qualifications::

    • At least 5 years’ experience in a tight tolerance manufacturing background, including an ability to read blueprints and a solid working knowledge of geometric tolerances and inspection techniques.
    • Previous Supervisory responsibilities.
    • Extensive hands-on experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, height gages, plug and ring gages, profilometers, etc.
    • Experience operating/programming a CMM.
    • Experience developing or implementing organizational quality plans.
    • An understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality requirements and record keeping, sample inspection plans, and SPC data collection.
    • Strong visual inspection skills and attention to detail.
    • Knowledgeable in Word and Excel.
    • You must be a U.S. person in accordance with ITAR 120.15 (a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident or other protected person).

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
